93. Thomas Spurr WHITMAN.

Went in 1869 to Annapolis due to ill health and was a branch manager of the Union Band of Halifax and Bank of Nova Scotia; manager of the N.S. Lloyd's; secretary and treasurer of Acadia Steamship Co. Afterwards, went into the lumber industry, apple shipping and fish industry. His firm developed a heat treatment which revolutioized fish processing and led to a family association with two other fish companies : founding the firm "Robin, Jones & Whitman, Ltd."
Thomas was a staunch Liberal and a member of the St. Luke's Anglican Church. He adopted FRANCES HANDFIELD and raised him with his sons.

Thomas Spurr married Louisa TOBIAS.

They had the following children:

94. John Edward WHITMAN. Born on 10 Nov 1833 in Halifax, NS. John Edward died in NY in 1892, he was 58.

Went as a young man as supercargo on a voyage to the West Indies; settled in business in Havana, Cuba.. remaining there until 1886, when he returned to NY.
He was married twice: first to Eugenia Sarazin, of Cuba (married in NY) and then to Clara Umo, of Havana, Cuba.

In 1857 when John Edward was 23, he first married Eugenia SARAZIN, in NYC. Born in Cuba.

On 24 Aug 1873 when John Edward was 39, he second married Clara UMO, in Havana.
