He had a portion of his father's homestead upon which he spent most of his days. The muster rolls show that Nicholas Whitman served at the time of the alarm at Rhode Island, Dec. 8, 1776, under Lt. John Whitman. He led a quiet, inoffensive life and died 1803. All his children survived him.
