| Notes for Jacob WHITMAN |
About 1780 he removed to Buckfield, ME, being one of the early settlers of that town. Prior to this time, he served in the Massachusetts muster rolls as a private in the company of Capt. Eliakim Howes, and marched from Bridgewater to Braintree Neck, March 4, 1776. There is a family tradition that he served in the Battle of Bunker HIll, and his name appears on the Senate rolls March 4, 1831.
Farnam has this Jacob listed as being born after his father was 70. Later notes indicate Jacob was born when his father was 72 years old! |
