I am completely confused as to whether the Sophia Tupper (wife #1) and Sophia (Tupper) Prentiss (wife #3) are the same person.

A ship's captain out of Liverpool, NS, he was drowned in 1819 off Coffin Island, a lighthouse island just outside Liverpool, purportedly while saving his cabin boy.[72].
