| Settled at Providence RI about 1745 and purchased a small 20x66 lot situated at what is now the corner of Weybosset and Westminster Streets. To this so-called "small lot" large additions were susequently made and here the family mansion was eventually erected. He was a blacksmith by trade especially skilled in iron work for ships in which he did a large business filling orders from Boston, Salem, Lynn and other shipping ports.He was a charitable man and interested in all educational matters.[6] |
