Erichson. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have. John Wade Whitman, son of Jonathan Whitman and Catherine, was born Feb 02, 1835 in Venango Co. PA, (possibly Sugarcreek Twp.) He married Elizabeth Dack, daughter of Thomas Dack and Abigail Gunnis(Gunness)B:Aug.22, 1840/D:Mar 03, 1890 of Brockville, Ontario, Canada in Rock Island, IL on Nov. 09, 1858. He died Mar 29, 1906 in Brighton, Polk Co., MO. John fought in the Civil War in Co.A, 93rd Regular Illinois Infantry(originally called Capt.Ashbaugh's Co.) He was appointed the rank of sgt, Sept 01, 1863. He is listed on the mustered out roll-Washington D.C.-June 02, 1865(mustered out date-June 02, 1865) He was also a member of the Brighton(MO) Lodge No.613 IOOF-joined June 03, 1901.
