I believe this photo of Clement St. Clair Whitman and his wife Sarah Jane
Worth was taken around 1916-1918. She was the daughter of Reuben Worth of Guysborough, Nova Scotia. Clement was the grandson of Spinney Whitman, of Canso, and the great great grandson of John "Deacon" Whitman. The couple lived in Canso and Clement worked at the store of A. N. Whitman and Son, Ltd., down near Whitman's Wharf. Their children were Aubrey S. Whitman and Clara Whitman. This photo was taken by Aubrey probably when he was in Canso or New Glasgow about the time of Clara's wedding to Fred Gratto. The family has very few photos of Clement. |
