In April 1834 he became a Christian and joined the Congregational Church in Liverpool, NS; in 1843 he was chosen deacon and licensed to preach, and in April 1846 was ordained and took charge for many years of the Congregational churches of Cornwallis and Falmouth; residence Manchester.

She was an active spiritual worker in the church of Christ; in early life she sought and found some pardon and peace by believing in Christ; in prosperity and adversity her trust was in God ; at all times she was ready for every good work.
Faithful until death, her last words were 1 Corinthians 16:55-57..
